Our lives are too big and complex to comprehend completely.
It helps to use a metaphor to describe something that’s beyond words.
I like the metaphor of “Life is a garden.”
The garden has different parts to it and contains many different plants.
I’ve got weeds and pests I need to tend to regularly from choking off the best parts of the garden.
Part of the garden is for display – part of it is secret.
Some parts bear fruit, some produce vegetables, and some create great colors shapes and scents.
Storms come through and can either nourish or threaten the garden.
Paradoxically – I have to prune back some plantings to get a better yield.
There are no straight lines in the garden. There are no columns of numbers or checkbooks to balance – but – behind the scenes – in planning the garden and preparing the garden mastering the skills needed to do these things helps me create a better garden.
The entire garden is driven by the life force. This is an invisible, omnipresent source isn’t flashy or showy.
It illuminates the plants in the garden. It illuminates me as the garden’s tender. It illuminates the visitors in the garden.
Got a problem? Tend the garden – dig deep and you can remove the root of the problem.
Ted your own garden – and be extraordinary.
