The Path of Potential

by martyfogs on January 11, 2010

Life’s a game of me fulfilling my potential in the moment.

The only currency that really matters over time is developing a pattern of fulfilling my potential on a regular basis.

I can look back at the path I’ve been on at different times in my life and see when I gave the world my highest potential and when I didn’t.

The key to fulfilling my potential has many features -all coming from the right habits and working from the right value system.

The use of the key – being in the moment and performing up to my potential – is easy and comes naturally if I live from the highest core values.

It’s living from these values that can be hard.

The unseen work of getting up early, planning your day with the highest expectations for its outcomes, working toward those outcomes all day long, ignoring the lure of society’s sirens beckoning me to the easier way and the “goodlife” is exhausting.

Being flexible enough to handle the curve balls.  Being aware enough not to get sucked into thought traps and cul-du-sacs of time and energy drains.  Knowing that its OK even though it seems like everything is falling apart.  This takes tremendous presence, awareness and faith.

Today you’ll be offered a series of moments.  On the other side of these moments you’ll be able to look back and ID if you lived them up to your potential or not.

By reflecting on these moments and tracking the question of “Did I live up to my potential there?” – you’ll change the trajectory of your life – and the lives of those you care about.

And with persistence and hard work, I’ll someday be able to look back and see that the path I’ve taken was indeed the path where I gave the world my highest potential.  That’s my goal.
